Vehicle inspections now available within DAVIS Fleet

Fully integrated within DAVIS, our Fleet module is designed to provide fleet managers with actionable and insightful management information from a continuous stream of data variables.

Vehicle inspections, defect management, BiK taxation and fines management are now available in our fleet management solution, DAVIS Fleet.

Fully integrated within DAVIS (Driver and Vehicle Information Solutions), Licence Check’s market-leading risk management platform, DAVIS Fleet is designed to provide fleet managers with actionable and insightful management information from a continuous stream of data variables.

The new features continue that development process and are intended to give fleet managers greater functionality within the platform to help run their fleets more efficiently and with greater insight.

Amongst the new features, which have typically been developed following client feedback, defect reporting centres around the use of the DAVIS Driver App, which was launched last autumn.

This gives drivers the capability to carry out walk-around inspections of their vehicles, capturing photographic evidence of any defects, adding any appropriate notes and updating the fleet manager via the app.

Defects are reported instantly within the new Defect Management dashboard, prompting the fleet manager to select the defect severity level and view and manage any remedial work for the defect, such as glass, bodywork or tyres, more efficiently, through to a successful completion via the feature.

Fleet managers are also able to upload and share company documents with drivers instantly, via the DAVIS Driver App, obtaining an e-signature to record acknowledgement and agreement.

This is an extremely useful feature for communicating changes in fleet policy, for example, as well as providing essential contact information, such as emergency numbers or breakdown service provider, enabling the driver to get in touch directly to shorten response times.

A sure-to-be popular new feature focuses on Benefit-in-Kind tax reporting and provides BIK rates up to 2029/30 for all vehicles on the fleet at both 20% and 40% tax bands. The feature also captures electric vehicle ranges and CO2 levels without the need for manual input, holding all relevant information in one place, thus saving admin time and effort.

Meanwhile, a new downtime management reporting feature allows fleet managers to evaluate the reliability of their vehicles on their fleet by quantifying the amount of time they spend off the road for any given period. Given the outcome, this could provide the necessary information to go back to the supplying manufacturer to negotiate better terms.

Also new is the ability to manage fines, such as speeding tickets, DART charges, parking permits and annual subscriptions within DAVIS Fleet. Fleet managers can assign fines against a driver and vehicle, highlighting repeat offenders and high risk drivers, as well as quantifying any recharges against drivers for fines received.

All vehicle information is archived for a minimum of three years so that any disputes can be easily resolved and all aggregated fines information is kept in one place for easy access.

DAVIS Fleet is a highly effective fleet management solution because it does not generate reams of unmanageable information. Instead, fleet managers are provided with dashboard views of all exceptions, including under and over mileages, warnings of vehicles nearing mileage limits, any vehicles without mileage recorded and notifiable defects.

Licence Check managing director, Keith Allen, said: “Our primary aim is to help fleet managers manage their fleets in a more cost effective, risk efficient and sustainable manner, and to move the DAVIS platform from what was widely known as a licence checking platform to a comprehensive fleet management offering for car and van fleet operators.

“These new features are the latest in a stream of new developments we have planned for DAVIS Fleet which consolidate vital fleet information into one integrated solution to allow fleet managers to do their job more effectively,” he added.
